Community and Bill Motek Grants Awarded

On November 28th the KDCF held its annual Community Grants Award Ceremony in the gallery at Centre 64. A total of $23,000 from the KDCF Memorial Community Fund, the Kootenay Savings Community Fund and the Theresa Cundiff Fund was awarded to a variety of charitable organizations in and around Kimberley. In addition, the annual revenue from the Bill Motek Memorial Fund, $3950, was given to the Pines Memorial and Development Society to assist with programs at the Kimberley Special Care Home.

The groups receiving Community Grants were:

– Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy for the Baby Goose and Baby Steps program – $2000 – Kimberley Community Band for Anniversary/Mass Band 2019 – $5500 – Spark Youth Society for a Youth Business Project – $1200 – Kimberley District Heritage Society for Reorganization/Shelving – $1130 – Kimberley Art Council for Kimberley First Saturdays – $3000 – Kimberley Arts Council for Kimberley Summer Playhouse – $3000 – Healthy Kimberley Society for Standards and Hoops for Selkirk Outdoor Basketball Court – $5500 – Wildsight for the Kimberley Open Gate Garden – $1170 – and the winner of our Wheel of Fortune draw at the Kimberley Fall Fair was the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy – $500
